The middle of the country, the middle of the road, the middle of where? Okay, I admit it, we’re all exhausted and we’re in what the kids like to keep referring to as the middle of nowhere. Now, for the many wonderful people who live in the middle of this great vast land, I realize it might just be a spectacular place to live. However, for a car tired family, we were just driving on through. My creativity was zapped, the kids were done, and we just wanted to get to the east coast. After hours of driving past billboards our curiosity got the best of us, and we had to stop at a great big tourist trap. Wall Drug. Like an oasis, it appeared out of nowhere. The kids were wide-eyed at the faux western scene. They were so happy to be out of the car for a bit, you would think we had just landed in Disneyland. After many “no you can’t have thats, and no we’re not buying thats” we felt sufficiently ready to get on back to our journey. We left a nest here, in this crazy little town. A town created from someone’s dream, a town built around a store, a town that if you squinted really hard, was almost kinda cool. Leaving that nest helped us all remember our purpose, our dreams, and maybe it will help some weary traveller remember theirs.

When i was at wall Drug i found a nest! i was at a bad place in my life and i felt like everything was falling through. sure enought i look down and the feet of an indian and there was a nest. It really made my day.
Thank you for that, it made me see through my bad times and now im happy
